Everything I hoped for and more – one of my absolute favorites
Let me be completely honest: I had to see this movie. It’s Deadpool. It’s Ryan Reynolds. It’s Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine. How could I possibly miss this? The hype was real, the anticipation was through the roof, and somehow, impossibly, the movie exceeded even those sky-high expectations.
Deadpool & Wolverine is now one of my most favorite movies. Period. Everything about it is just amazing.
The story picks up with Wade Wilson living a regular life after hanging up his Deadpool suit. He’s working as a car salesman, trying to find meaning in his mundane existence. But when the Time Variance Authority (yes, from Loki) shows up and tells him his universe is dying, Wade has to suit up again. The catch? He needs Wolverine’s help. But the Wolverine from his universe is dead, so Wade travels through the multiverse to find a version of Logan who can help him save his world.
What follows is pure, unfiltered joy. This movie delivers everything you could possibly want from a Deadpool and Wolverine team-up. The action is incredible, the humor is razor-sharp, and watching these two characters bounce off each other is comedy gold. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have this perfect chemistry where they’re constantly bickering, fighting, and annoying each other, but you can also feel the genuine respect and eventual friendship building between them.
Reynolds is, as always, perfect as Deadpool. The fourth-wall breaks, the crude humor, the pop culture references – he delivers every line with such perfect timing that even jokes that shouldn’t work somehow do. He brings that same irreverent energy we love, but there’s also real emotion underneath all the jokes. Wade is desperate to matter, to save the people he loves, and Reynolds lets us see that vulnerability even while making us laugh.
And Hugh Jackman? The man is a legend. Watching him don the yellow suit and claws one more time is everything fans have been dreaming about for years. This Wolverine is broken, angry, and dealing with his own failures and regrets. He’s the perfect foil for Deadpool’s chaos. Jackman brings such intensity and emotion to the role while also clearly having a blast with the more comedic moments. The man is 55 years old and in the best shape of his life, doing fight choreography that would exhaust people half his age.

The villain is phenomenal. Without spoiling too much, the antagonist is genuinely threatening while also fitting perfectly into the tone of the movie. The performance is layered and interesting, giving our heroes a real challenge while also understanding that this is ultimately a fun, irreverent adventure. Every scene with the villain raises the stakes and keeps the tension high.
But let’s talk about what had me absolutely losing my mind in the theater: the cameos. Oh my god, the cameos. This movie is a love letter to the Fox Marvel universe, and it brings back so many characters and actors that I never thought we’d see again. And Chris Evans? His cameo is absolutely genius. I won’t spoil what character he’s playing, but let’s just say it’s not who you think, and it’s one of the funniest, most surprising moments in the entire movie. The theater I was in erupted when he appeared.
The action sequences are brutal, creative, and absolutely thrilling. Watching Deadpool and Wolverine fight side by side (and sometimes against each other) is everything I hoped it would be. The R-rating means they don’t hold back on the violence, and the fight choreography is some of the best I’ve seen in a superhero movie. There’s one particular fight scene set to a perfect song choice that is just chef’s kiss.
The humor works on every level. There are jokes for casual fans, deep-cut references for die-hard Marvel nerds, meta-commentary about Disney buying Fox, fourth-wall breaks that acknowledge the absurdity of it all, and just pure silliness that makes you laugh because it’s so ridiculous. And somehow, it all works. The movie is genuinely hilarious from start to finish.
But what makes this movie truly special is that underneath all the jokes and action, there’s real heart. Both Wade and Logan are dealing with failure, loss, and the question of whether they matter. Their journey together isn’t just about saving the universe – it’s about finding redemption and purpose. The emotional beats hit hard, and the movie earns every single one of them.
The supporting cast is wonderful. The returning characters from previous Deadpool movies all get their moments. The new characters introduced through the multiverse concept are fun and interesting. And every cameo feels earned and meaningful rather than just being there for nostalgia’s sake.
Director Shawn Levy strikes the perfect balance between honoring what came before and creating something new. He clearly loves these characters and understands what makes them work. The pacing is tight, the visuals are stunning, and every creative choice feels right.

This movie also serves as a beautiful send-off to the Fox X-Men era while welcoming these characters into the MCU. It’s respectful to the past while being excited about the future. For fans who grew up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and the original X-Men films, this movie feels like a thank you. For newer fans, it’s an absolute blast that doesn’t require homework to enjoy.
I can’t recommend this movie enough. Whether you’re a hardcore Marvel fan or just someone looking for a fun time at the movies, Deadpool & Wolverine delivers. It’s funny, it’s action-packed, it’s emotional, and it’s everything I wanted it to be and more.
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman poured their hearts into this. You can feel the love and passion in every frame. This is a movie made by people who genuinely care about these characters and wanted to give fans something special. And they absolutely succeeded.
